Fire Station #1, Brookline, MA
We prepared a report for three different fire stations and work was approved for Station #1. The roof required replacement and we designed a new EPDM roof with tapered insulation. Masonry repair of the parapets had to be completed before the roof could be installed.
The real challenge was the replacement of the tower roof. Temporary staging was needed for access and a crane was needed to move material and debris off the roof. Below the high roof was an interior flat copper roof within the tower which also had to be waterproof to protect the interior. The cost to remove and replace the deteriorated copper was too high so we recommended using a liquid applied roofing membrane with fabric reinforcing which was easily installed.
